In September 2004 I heard about a Vietnam vet named Tony Snesko who had some kind of personal political exhibit that was currently on display near the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC. I went to see what people were talking about, and, if ever there were a political epiphany for me, this was it. When I saw what he was doing, I told Tony, “This should be on every street corner and in every parking lot in the country!” What Tony had was a homemade political statement that proved to any thinking American voter that John Kerry was a liar and self-serving politician who would stoop to any level to deceive that voter. From that humble beginning came “Operation Street Corner,” a coordinated effort that enabled any computer-literate American to mount his or her own customized exhibit. “Operation Street Corner,” or “OSC,” was basically a computer-cum-printer phenomenon, in that the website undergirding it offered, in addition to frequent tips and encouraging comments, folders of information about John Kerry’s fraudulent medals, his lies about his Vietnam service, and his treason to his country. From those folders, OSC participants could download and print such 8” x 10” broadsides as fit their purposes.
The 8x10 broadsides contained such information as Kerry’s being honored by the Vietnamese communists as one of their “international friends,” reprints of newspaper articles about Kerry and his “Winter Soldier” activities, and photographs of Kerry and his leftist friends. OSC was introduced on September 12, 2004, at the Kerry Lied Rally on Capitol Hill, and it quickly took on a life of its own. Tony Snesko had to put his life on hold to mail out the start-up kits, and a website set up to accommodate the effort was quickly inundated with field reports and photographs. By Election Day 2004, there were literally hundreds of people across the USA participating in OSC, and I am convinced that, given the short time and long learning curve involved, it made a difference in the defeat of John Kerry. We view Obama as perhaps the greatest political threat to America in its history, given his admitted Marxist/socialist background. Obama’s books are literally filled with self-condemnatory statements about his beliefs and with self-serving lies about his background as a community activist in the Saul Alinsky mode. I believe that Obama is more vulnerable to this type of educational effort than Kerry was, and I have already had several phone calls asking if we were going to set up OSC again. My answer is “yes.” We have to do it. America is at risk. We need to treble or quadruple the several hundred displays set up in 2004, and each display would offer local media the “opportunity” to interview display “sponsors.” This is publicity that the RNC could never pay for, in that it is generated from a populist point-of-view; that is, local folks are getting involved because they believe that their cause is right, and their neighbors will (as in 2004) take them more seriously than they would take a media advertisement. Finally, the 2004 campaign demonstrated that OSC brings like-minded people together on a personal basis, and they encourage one another to the point at which naturally retiring people become vocal advocates for their cause. The dynamics of OSC 2004 proved that Joe and Maizie Sixpack can have influence far beyond their immediate circle of family and friends. As mentioned above, the rotating images on the front page are just a few of the scores of photos taken across the country during OSC 2004. The photographs were taken across the country—New Hampshire, Washington State, West Virginia, Georgia, and others. They are representative of the remarkable effort put forth by volunteers in 2004, and they are indicative of the potential offered by Barack Obama as a target in 2008. Please help us help save our country from the depredations of Obama and his anti-American, anti-military crowd of supporters. Help us find the money to fund OSC 2008! PLEASE! Thank you.
